Periodic releases of jet fuel from soil after periods of rain have been found in
storm sewers at Spill Site 11. In 1998, a french drain system was constructed.
The collected water is pumped to an oil/water separator for treatment. A
biosurper pilot test was conducted at Spill Sites 5 and UST 71A in 1994. In Fall
1997, further treatability tests for this treatment technology were performed.
Based on the results of these tests, a full-scale treatment system was not
necessary to address the contamination at these sites (all contamination was
remediated to acceptable levels during the pilot test). No further remedial
actions are necessary for the remaining sites within this OU.
