Kings Mill Army Reserve Center
(KMARC)

Located east of Kings Mills, in Warren County, Ohio. The center occupies 15 acres and was formerly part of the 110 acres Kings Mills Ordinance Plant. The property is bordered by Diversified Products to the south/southwest and Warren County owned property to the northwest and northeast.

In 1993 and 1994 trichloroethylene (TCE) contaminated soil and ground water was observed at KMARC during a remedial investigation of properties associated with the former Kings Mills Ordinance Plant. Based on these observations the Center performed a TCE delineation assessment to determine the nature and extent of the contamination at the site in order to perform corrective measures. As a result of the delineation assessment it has been concluded that the TCE detected is present in isolated areas of the soil and aquifer. Contaminants observed at the Center are considered tohave different origins than the contaminants identified at the Diversified Products property.

In order to address the TCE detected in the soil and aquifer the Center has selected

In-Situ Chemical Oxidation as the Remedial Alternative of choice. A design for the Remedial Alternative is currently being developed.
